Nepal Tourism Board organised a Press Meet
with His Excellency Mr. Michel Jolivet,
Ambassador of France to Nepal and His
Excellency Mr. Keith Broomfield, Ambassador
of United Kingdom to Nepal to share their
experience of the trek they did recently.
A galaxy of both national and international
journalists were gathered to listen the
trekking tales of the diplomats who visited
remote villages of Nepal in Everest and
Annapurna Region respectively. Addressing
the media, His Excellency Mr. Michel Jolivet,
French Ambassador to Nepal recalled his
unique experience that he accumulated during
his trekking as a layman to Everest Region
which he was longing to visit for a long
time. Mesmerized by his trip, he praised the
beauty of the Everest Region and its people
saying that he thoroughly enjoyed the trek
and did not face any kind of hassles during
his trek. He went through Goyko Lake,
covering the region which is less travelled
by the trekkers because of difficult terrain
and snow. When His Excellency reached Namche,
he was much enthused to trek in the new
route and explore the beauty of the region.
He is convinced that it is safe to trek in
the Everest Region reiterating his earlier
statement that 'If French Ambassador can
trek to Everest Region, everybody can.". He
said that now he is writing travelogue of
his trek which can be seen in the website of
French Embassy of Nepal in near future.
Mr. Tek Bahadur Dangi, CEO Nepal Tourism
Board, HE Mr. Michel Jolivet, HE Mr. Keith
Broomfield and Mr. Suman Pandey, Member,
Nepal Tourism Board at Press Meet.
Earlier, His Excellency Mr. Keith
Broomfield, British Ambassador to Nepal
explained in detail his trekking experience
of Nar and Phu Village of Manang district.
He cherished the every moment of his trek as
the memorable one as this was his third
visit to Annapurna Region. He was enthralled
to see the unspoiled beauty of these two
villages situated on the fringe of Nepal-Tibet(China)
border. He further said if there is good
infrastructure, more tourists can enjoy the
pristine beauty of these places. The Nar and
Phu valleys are newly opened, spectacular
regions of ethnically- Tibetan inhabitants.
He said the trek to Nar and Phu would
provide the combine experience to see high
snow capped peaks and feel desert alpine
climate at the same time. This region was
first explored by Tillman in the 1950s. It
was closed to trekkers until late 2002. He
emphatically said that he did not face any
security problem throughout his trek and
encouraged the trekkers to explore this area
which provides totally new experience to
them.
Thanking both of them, Mr. Tek Bahadur Dangi,
CEO of Nepal Tourism Board said that he
believed the Ambassadors' recent trek would
trigger the arrivals in upcoming days and
give positive message to the world that
Nepal is a safe destination for all kind of
travellers.
